I didn't like the food

     If I had a pound for every foreign student who has complained to me about English food, I would be a rich woman. However, I should like to make a distinction between food in England and English food. Most visitors to England eat out in restaurants and cafes, which means that they aren't eating English food. If you ask a foreigner what English food is, they will tell you that it's French fries, pizza and sandwiches. We did give the sandwich its name, although I doubt that we really invented it, but Pizza is from Italy and French fries as their name suggests originate from France. Real English food is not to be found in restaurants.
